What Propeller Size Do I need?

This picture shows a 122cm Machine on the left and a 110cm machine on the right.

At present 122cm and 110 cm props and appropriate cage sizes are available in both the SOLO and SIMONINI engined machines. 96cm props are also available in the SOLO 210.

Your decision about which prop size to go for is determined by a few factors. The first being  your height; obviously with a longer 122cm prop the bottom of the cage will be nearer the ground than with a 110cm prop, so if you are shorter than average you may well prefer a shorter prop. Secondly, the power output (kilos of thrust as we like to call it) is going to be less with a shorter prop because most of the “thrust” is produced by the end of the prop, so the longer the prop the more thrust you get from the same size engine.  So, if you go for a shorter prop version, you may want a more powerful engine to spin the prop up a bit quicker. Also, it might depend on the size of your vehicle. People with vans rarely have to dismantle their machines to transport them.

Remember, although power is rarely rewarded in Paramotor competitions, it does make for an easy and safe launch. Imagine a nil wind launch with an underpowered machine…..it’s a long run and a dangerously slow climb out.
